Energies MDPI magazine

Our partner FUNDACIÓN AZTERLAN and our coordinator CIC energiGUNE have collaborated in the publication of the research work “Characterization of the Ratcheting Effect on the Filler Material of a Steel Slag-Based Thermal Energy Storage”, in the Energies MDPI magazine!

In the document our colleagues Erika Garitaonandia Peru Arribalzaga Daniel Bielsa Linaza and Ibon Miguel have highlighted one of LIFE HI4S core technical improvements, the potential of thermal energy storage systems as crucial elements to enhance energy efficiency in energy-intensive industries.
Air-based packed bed systems are posed as a promising technology due to their ability to utilize cost-effective materials, and in this article and in our LIFE HI4S project, steel slag has been studied to be used as a filler material and its thermophysical and mechanical properties demonstrated through endurance cycles.
