LIFE HI4S PROJECT
LIFE HI4S PROJECT AIMS TO BUILD AN INNOVATIVE COST-EFFECTIVE COMBINED HEAT&ELECTRICITY PRODUCTION PLANT FROM THE WASTE HEAT CONTAINED IN THE OFF-GAS OF AN ELECTRIC ARC FURNACE (EAF) IN ORDER TO REDUCE ENERGY INPUT THROUGH THERMAL ENERGY STORAGE TECHNOLOGIES AND ENERGY BALANCE OPTIMIZATION.
IMPACT
Reduce
CO2 EMISSIONS
Reduce
STEEL SLAG WASTAGE
Reduce
ENERGY CONSUMPTION
The project mission is to reduce the contribution to climate change of energy intensive industries, by increasing their energy efficiency and cutting wastages.
In addition, the project aims to carry on the work done in the previous EU funded H2020 project ReSlag (Grant Agreement n. 642067), where steel slag has been successfully tested as a thermal energy storage system, contributing to reduce its landfilling by providing it a second life.
LIFE HI4S project is funded by LIFE Programme of the European Union and is completely aligned with European Green Deal priorities to get full economy decarbonization through disruptive technologies with the potential to promote industry energy efficiency.
